Corrie: When Tina McIntyre changes her mind about surrogacy, Owen Armstrong will blackmail her into going ahead!

by Lynn Connolly

There’s set to be a sinister twist in the Coronation Street surrogacy storyline which has of course seen Tina McIntyre volunteer – in exchange for £15k – to have a baby for Gary Windass (Mikey North) and Izzy Armstrong (Cherylee Houston).

But according to the Daily Star, when Tina (Michelle Keegan) changes her mind and tells Izzy’s dad Owen (Ian Puleston-Davies) that she doesn’t want to go through with it, he’s set to blackmail her, telling her that he’ll “hurt” her boyfriend Tommy Duckworth (Chris Fountain) if she doesn’t agree to go through with having the baby.

In recent episodes, we have of course seen Tommy and Tina rowing about her decision to have the baby, and Tina’s friend Rita Tanner (Barbara Knox) even offered the cash strapped barmaid £15,000 to NOT go through with it…

However, Tina remained adamant, but when she does her U-turn on the decision, Tommy will be delighted, and he immediately goes to Rita to ask her if she’ll loan them the money to pay Owen back.

But while he’s away, Owen makes his nasty threat, so when Tommy returns, a shaken Tina tells him that she’s going ahead after all, leaving him exasperated, but of course, he doesn’t know why she’s changed her mind yet again.

A show insider told the paper, “Tina goes to the clinic behind [Tommy’s] back…

“He’s distraught, but of course he doesn’t know she’s only doing it to protect him.”

However, in a recent interview with the TV Times, Michelle Keegan, who of course plays Tina, has revealed that she’s excited for her on-screen pregnancy, and can’t wait to be fitted with her prosthetic baby bump!

She said, “When Natalie Gumede, who plays Kirsty, wore pregnancy padding, I used to stroke it every day and treated her like a real pregnant lady.

“I bet I’ll start eating more and getting out of my chair really slowly without bending my knees.”

We will of course see the plotline play out in forthcoming episodes.
