Making Weatherfield news today is that Carla Connor (Alison King) is set to be terrified when her ex-fiancé Frank Foster (Andrew Lancel) confronts her just as they’re due to go to court over Carla’s allegation of rape.
Also, Brooke Vincent, who plays Sophie Webster, has revealed that she thinks her co-star Helen Flanagan – who of course plays Sophie’s sister, Rosie – will be a lot happier once she’s left the show.
But first, back to Carla and Frank’s situation, and it all turns a good deal uglier on the day they both attend court, where of course, Frank must answer to the charges of rape brought by Carla.
The Sun reports that the already traumatized Carla is horrified when Frank and his fierce mum (Gwen Taylor) storm over to her outside the court and yell at her to drop the charges before it’s too late…
However, supported by her best friend and former sister-in-law, Michelle Connor (Kym Marsh) Carla stands firm and refuses to be bullied by Frank, who also, incidentally, brings his new girlfriend Sally Webster (Sally Dynevor) along to the trial.
Over now to what Brooke Vincent has had to say about Helen Flanagan leaving she show – after playing the role of Rosie for 12 years – she told New magazine that she thinks Helen will be “a lot happier” now she’s left Corrie.
She said, “Helen’s most happy when she’s with her boyfriend. She’s much more relaxed and so much happier in herself.
“So if that’s where she’s happiest, that’s where she needs to be.
“A lot of people forget that when you work on a soap, you kind of sign your life away.
“You’re not allowed to change your hair, you can’t go on holiday when you want.
“Helen’s a bit of a control freak and likes to have her freedom, so I think it will help her.
“She said to me, ‘When I leave, I’ve got nothing to do. And it’s going to be great!’.”
Brooke also revealed that she “always knew” her co-star Sacha Parkinson, who plays Sophie’s girlfriend Sian Powers, wouldn’t stay long in Weatherfield.
She said, “[Sacha] said ages ago, ‘I’m only going to stay two years’.
“Then two years went by and she was like, ‘I think I’m going to leave next December’.
“It’s kind of like school – everyone has to go their own separate ways eventually.
“It’d be a different story if they were being written out, but it’s their own decision.”
Sacha will be seen for the last time on the Street when her character leaves Sophie at the altar when she learns her fiancé is in love with Amber (Nikki Patel).
