Corrie: Peter Barlow will beg ex-wife Leanne not to marry Nick Tilsley and to go back to him instead!

by Lynn Connolly

As fans of Coronation Street will no doubt know, Peter Barlow and his girlfriend Carla Connor are headed back to Weatherfield, having left temporarily earlier this year after Peter’s soon to be ex-wife Leanne won custody of his son Simon…

And while Peter (Chris Gascoyne) and Carla (Alison King) sloped off to lick their wounds, Leanne (Jane Danson) reignited her romance with her former husband Nick Tilsley (Ben Price) and in forthcoming episodes, Bistro owner Nick is set to pop the question to Leanne.

However, though Leanne initially accepts Nick’s proposal, and the pair plan a Christmas wedding, when Peter returns to the Street, Leanne soon realizes she’s still in love with him.

And according to the Daily Star, Peter’s set for a similar epiphany as he realizes it’s Leanne he wants, and not Carla…

The paper states that in a heart to heart, Peter will tell Leanne, “You look like someone doing an impersonation of someone being happy.”

He then scathingly adds, “Marrying Bistro boy will be the worst mistake of your life.”

However, unable to forget the heartache Peter put her through – what with his alcoholism and his affair with Carla – and not wanting to hurt Nick, Leanne tells Peter he couldn’t be more wrong, and says she can’t wait to be Mrs Tilsley again…

But she soon finds her resolve weakening when Peter tells her that he’s lonely, and, caught off guard, she admits she is too.

So will Peter ditch Carla for Leanne? Will Leanne ditch Nick for Peter? Well, it seems that we’ll have to wait right up until the wedding’s looming to find out, but a show insider said, “There are plenty of twists to come.”

Which is standard for a soapy wedding of course, and in fact, at their own wedding after the tram crash, Peter dumped Leanne at the altar after humiliating her by telling her he knew all about her affair with Nick, and adding that Nick was welcome to her.

But of course, Leanne and Peter subsequently worked out their problems and married again. However, in Peter’s absence, Leanne filed for divorce, and as we’ll see next week, she’s left depressed when the decree nisi turns up.

Here’s a reminder of Peter ditching Leanne on their wedding day…

Hope you don’t mind me correcting you but it was Peter who petitioned for divorce, not Leanne. It’s Simon, Peter wants. His son and Carla, the woman he’s been with for the last 2 years. As far as I know, he doesn’t want Leanne but he doesn’t want Nick to have her either. If we are supposed to believe he wants Leanne after everything, then that’s crazy. Why anyone would want Leanne is a mystery to me. Carla leaves because she can’t cope being back in Weatherfield, she gets drunk, ends up fighting with Leanne and is arrested! Peter refuses to leave Simon and go with her, so Carla leaves without him (temporarily) and while she’s gone he decides he should get back with Leanne. So typical of erratic Peter Barlow.
