Corrie: Sol Heras says Ryan Connor will do “anything” to be a good dad to Tracy’s baby

by Lynn Connolly

As fans of Coronation Street will no doubt know, Tracy Barlow (Kate Ford) is about to announce that she’s pregnant with Ryan Connor’s baby…

Which will of course drive his mum Michelle (Kym Marsh) nuts, given how much she hates Tracy, who only embarked on a romance with Ryan to annoy Michelle!

However, while speaking to Soaplife about the storyline, Sol Heras, who plays reckless Ryan, has revealed that his character is determined to be a good dad.

He said, “The baby is all Ryan can think about at the moment. It’s a serious situation…

“At first he’s really not ready for the responsibility, but he comes round to the idea of being a dad very quickly.”

But when asked if it occurs to Ryan that scheming Tracy might be lying and isn’t really pregnant, Sol said, “Steve and Michelle think she is [lying]. But Ryan’s more naive…

“He can’t understand why someone would want to lie about something so serious so he doesn’t suspect she could be lying at all.”

Next, when asked if Ryan might propose to Tracy, Sol said, “In Ryan’s view he’s made her pregnant so he must tell her he loves her and they must settle down as a couple.

“He just sees it as the right thing to do. In his mind he’s doing the honourable thing. It’s the right path to take.”

However, Sol went on to say that when Ryan finds out that his mum and her boyfriend Steve McDonald (Simon Gregson) have tried to bribe Tracy to have a termination, he’ll be furious.

He said, “It’s a real kick in the teeth to him. He’s spent a lot of time accepting the fact his life is going to change and he’s going to become a dad.

“So to then find out his mum and Steve have tried to have his baby terminated behind his back is heartbreaking for him.”

And it seems it’s for this reason that Ryan decides to ask Tracy to leave Weatherfield with him and set up home as a family in Glasgow.

Of that, Sol said, “He wants to get away from the claustrophobic atmosphere of living so close to his mum and Tracy’s family.

“But Tracy’s not as keen as he is for obvious reasons. This isn’t part of her plan at all.”

Finally, when asked, “Do you think that Ryan could end up very hurt?” Sol said, “Yes, I think he’s bitten off more than he can chew.

“Tracy really is a complete psychopath and she’s barking mad, but Ryan doesn’t know this.

“He doesn’t realise just what a roller-coaster ride he’s in for!”

We’ll see Tracy telling Ryan she’s pregnant in tonight’s visit to the Street.
