Corrie: Sophie Webster will save Ryan Connor’s life, but will be left facing paralysis herself!
As we reported recently, in forthcoming episodes of Coronation Street, Sophie Webster will be told that she may never walk again after she’s involved in a road traffic accident.
However, at the time, it was reported that Sophie (Brooke Vincent) would be seriously injured after her friend Ryan Connor (Sol Heras) takes her on a joyride which ends disastrously when he crashes the car then flees the scene because he’s high on cocaine.
But today, The Sun’s TV Biz and the Daily Mail report that in fact, Sophie will sustain serious back injuries after she saves Ryan’s life by pushing him out of the path of an oncoming car…
Taking the full force of the impact herself, Sophie will be seen smashing into the car’s bonnet, then lying critically injured in the road.
The Sun adds, “And it’s been suggested that Ryan runs off when the ambulance arrives to tend to poor Sophie.”
But one thing that isn’t different in the two reports is that the accident will rock the Street’s residents, including the Barlows, given that Tracy (Kate Ford) is dating Ryan when the incident occurs.
When he hears the news of how ill Sophie is, and that she may be paralysed for life, Ken Barlow (Bill Roache) will tell his step-daughter Tracy, “I bumped into Sally on the way back from the hospital…
“Sophie’s had an operation on her back. She’s awake but there’s a chance she’ll never walk again.”
He adds, “She was with Ryan. He was high on drugs, dodging cars on the road or something.
“According to Sally, he ran off when the ambulance came.”
Ken then warns Tracy, “You should cast him away without a second thought.”
We can expect to see those dramatic scenes next month.
