As we reported recently, Corrie’s iconic pub The Rover Return is set to be decimated in a fire later this year which will leave Sunita Alahan (Shobna Gulati) dead in the burned out wreckage.

However, it’s been revealed today that when the pub’s rebuilt, it’ll be “bigger and better” and will end up being run by Michelle Connor (Kym Lomas) who of course formerly ran the pub with her lover Steve McDonald (Simon Gregson) when he owned it.

The rebuilt pub will of course be at the show’s new studios in Salford, and of the restructuring, a show insider told TV Biz, “The Rovers will be rebuilt on a bigger scale – the plans show it with two upstairs windows, instead of the one it has now.

“That means more space for a larger family.”

The source added, “Everything is very hush hush but there is speculation that Michelle Connor (Kym Marsh) could end up running the new Rovers – as bosses want to cement her as an all-time favourite.

“Other rumours are that the pub will have a new dining area inside and that Betty Driver’s portrait will have pride of place as a lasting tribute to her.”

As to the plot twist that Sunita will be accused of having burned down the pub deliberately – by way of revenge against her lover Karl Munro (John Michie) and his ex, Stella Price (Michelle Collins) – the insider said, “Even Sunita becoming a victim can’t stop people pointing the finger.

“But if they’re wrong then the real arsonist will still be at large.”

I personally think it’ll turn out to be Karl, given that Michelle Collins recently revealed that he’s set to become “sinister” as he obsesses about reuniting with Stella.

What do you reckon? For now, here’s a look at tomorrow night’s episode, which sees Tyrone Dobbs pleading with Kevin Webster to help him to snatch baby Ruby…

I do hope this signals an end to St Stella and preferably that she perishes in the fire to prevent her return.
