As we reported last week, Sunita Alahan (Shobna Gulati) is due to die in a fire at the Rovers which many of the Street’s residents will believe she started deliberately after her lover Karl Munro ditches her to reunite with Stella Price…

However, it seems that there’s more to the story than it first seemed because Michelle Collins, who of course plays Stella, has revealed that as the drama unfolds, Karl (John Michie) will become “sinister” when his efforts to win Stella back are thwarted.

Speaking to the Daily Record, Michelle said, “I’ve got loads of other good stuff coming up where my ex [Karl] gets very sinister and becomes totally obsessed with me.”

It’s also understood that Karl will stalk Stella’s toy boy, Jason Grimshaw (Ryan Thomas), and apropos of that plotline, Michelle said, “I never envisaged I’d be in Corrie. If someone had told me years ago, I’d have said, ‘You’re joking’.

“But right now it’s amazing and obviously the toy boy storyline is great fun.”

Meanwhile, of the fire that will kill Sunita and raze the Rovers to the ground, a show spokeswoman recently refused to comment about the storyline, but an insider said, “It’s going to be a very dramatic spring on Corrie.

“The Rovers Return will be reduced to a shell.”

Shobna announced her decision to quit the show last year while revealing that she now intends to focus on writing comedy.

Here’s a reminder of scenes before Stella caught Karl and Sunita in a compromising position in the pub…

I’m enjoying Corrie right now, last night was great with a lot of the humour we know and love Corrie for. Lewis was a fab villain who I’ll miss very much. The fire also sounds like it will be a cracking storyline
