Corrie Spoilers: Kirsty Soames spoons Tyrone Dobbs, but not in the good way!

In the first week of May, we’re going to see the controversial domestic violence storyline get underway in Corrie, when pregnant nut job Kirsty Soames attacks her fiancé Tyrone Dobbs with a ladle.

And though of course it might seem kind of amusing – unless that’s just my warped sense of humour – that she chooses a big spoon as her weapon of choice, the issue being highlighted – that of domestic violence against men – is of course a serious one.

Kirsty’s fierce temper spills over into physical violence soon after she loses her job as a copper, but trying to be helpful, Tyrone (Alan Halsall) suggests she try to get work at Underworld stitching pants…

But as Kirsty (Natalie Gumede) listens to Tyrone telling her he’ll put in a good word for her at the factory, her temper – and their dinner – boils over and she hits poor Ty round the face with the ladle, screaming that she’s dedicated her life to being a police officer.

After the attack, Tyrone’s left bleeding and with a big bruise, and of course, completely bewildered at the fury of her actions.

And as is par for the course with abusers, Kirsty’s immediately sorry and promises Tyrone it’ll never happen again…

But of course, it will. Poor Ty.

A Coronation Street insider told the Daily Star, “Tyrone is one of the nicest blokes you could ever meet.

“He’s never had much luck and had his heart ripped out by everything that happened with Molly.

“All everyone wants is for him to be happy and at first Kirsty seemed gorgeous, funny and seemed to adore him.

“But then came the glimpses of what she was really like – controlling, manipulative and a little bit odd.

“When she hits Tyrone she takes it to a whole new level. She’s pregnant with Tyrone’s baby and incredibly hormonal but there is no excuse for her behaviour.”

As mentioned, we’ll see this drama play out a week on Thursday on ITV1.
