Corrie star Alan Halsall says Tyrone’s desperate to get custody of baby Ruby, but Kirsty’s playing dirty!
Coronation Street resident Tyrone Dobbs is about to be devastated when his nutty fiancé Kirsty Soames pulls a horrible stunt that could see the mechanic losing any legal rights to his baby daughter, Ruby…
The plotline begins when Kirsty (Natalie Gumede) once again loses her temper and lashes out at poor Tyrone, leaving him battered and bruised and realizing, finally, that there can be no future for him with the ex-copper, given that she clearly can’t control her violent temper.
But of course, his biggest worry is that Kirsty may harm their baby daughter Ruby, so, after Tyrone confides in his friend Fiz (Jennie McAlpine) about his dilemma, she advises him to split from Kirsty and get legal custody of Ruby.
Spurred on by her advice, Tyrone tells Kirsty that it’s over between them, and adds that he wants her to leave. She of course says she won’t leave without the baby, but Tyrone’s adamant that he won’t hand over the infant…
But what Tyrone doesn’t know is that – having suspected her fiancé was reaching the end of his tether with her – Kirsty has registered the baby’s birth, and instead of putting Ty’s name as Ruby’s dad, she put ‘Father unknown’, which means that legally, he has no rights over the baby.
Speaking to Soaplife about the plot, Alan Halsall, who plays Tyrone, first explained how his character reaches the heartbreaking decision to split from Kirsty.
He said, “He still loves her, but they can’t carry on living the way they are.”
And when asked, “So how does Kirsty react when Tyrone says he wants her out and he’ll be keeping Ruby?” Alan replied, “Kirsty’s shocked, but she had an inkling he was reaching the end of his tether with her – so she plays her trump card…
“She produces Ruby’s birth certificate – without Tyrone name on it as the father. It’s Kirsty’s insurance against him.
“It means he has no rights as far as Ruby is concerned.”
Alan continued, “After Tyrone’s history with baby Jack it’s the worst thing that could possibly happen to him.
“He sees this beautiful baby girl as his and he has all these amazing feelings for her, so for his name not to be on her birth certificate is devastating.”
Alan then revealed that smug Kirsty tells Ty that she’s now calling the shots, and if he doesn’t do exactly what she tells him to, he’ll never see Ruby again.
Of that shocker, Alan said, “It’s the kind of place Tyrone is used to being at in his relationship with Kirsty, being bossed around.
“The rug’s pulled just as he’s made such a strong and brave decision to end the relationship – and it immediately puts him on the back foot.
“But he comes up with a plan to get back on track with his home life…
“He tells Kevin he’s taking a year off from the garage to look after his daughter while Kirsty goes out to work. It’s not ideal and Kevin’s shocked.
“Tyrone’s not too concerned about Kirsty harming the baby – if he was he wouldn’t let her near Ruby at all – but he sees it as the safer option.”

IN my opinion, I think that Tyrone should leave Kirsty for good and look after his own baby Ruby. He should not let himself be attacked by his own girlfriend.
Agree, but watch out for further shocks as Tyrone is told he is not the baby’s father…..poor sod, I feel sorry for him but that b***h needs her come uppance & with the help of Kevin & Fizz she will! PS. Corrie should have won the Awards this year& especially over the last 3yrs. E Enders is tripe.
