As fans of Coronation Street will know, Toxic Tracy Luv Barlow will do pretty much anything to get her own way, and if in doing so she can annoy the hell out of someone, she considers it a two birds, one stone type victory…
And in a forthcoming storyline, which will see Tracy dating Ryan Connor to a) irritate his mother Michelle and b) hope that she’ll make Steve McDonald jealous, she achieves that two birds, one stone scenario.
Kate Ford, who of course plays Tracy, has been telling Soaplife a bit more about the plotline, and the motivations behind Tracy embarking on a relationship with Ryan (Sol Heras).
Kate began by saying of the Steve, Tracy, Michelle (Kym Marsh) debacle, “She feels as though Steve [Simon Gregson] has betrayed her…
“How could he have said he loved her one minute, married her, then started a new relationship with someone else?
“For Tracy it’s like going back to how she felt about Becky. She’s not going to let Michelle’s life be easy.”
When asked when and how Tracy decides to get revenge by dating Ryan, Kate replied, “When he starts flirting with her.
“He does it to wind up his mum and Tracy thinks, ‘Hold on, this is a really good idea…’
“She decides to seduce him and he doesn’t put up a fight. In fact, he’s really pleased that he’s got this woman throwing herself at him.”
Soaplife then asked if Tracy even fancies Ryan, to which Kate replied, “Oh yes, and I think he really fancies her. It’s a win-win situation for her.”
Kate went on to say that Tracy relishes the moment that Michelle finds out that she’s sleeping with her son!
She said, “It’s her worst nightmare. Michelle loves her son; she’s spent a lot of time trying to get him off the drugs and on to the straight and narrow, then she finds him with Tracy! It’s brilliant!
“Tracy’s enjoys the situation. She gets to sleep with this beautiful boy and wind up Steve and Michelle.
“She doesn’t have any immediate plans to change that. Every time she winds up Michelle it’s like a dream to Tracy. It’s just the best plan!”
And finally, when asked if she’s ever shocked by Tracy’s behaviour, Kate said, “Not any more, not after she smacked Charlie over the head with a statue!”
We’ll see those scenes as of next week, but more immediately, in the episode that airs tomorrow night, Ryan’s in yet more trouble, which prompts Steve to finally sack him from Street Cars.
