Coronation Street character Michelle Connor is about to discover that her son Ryan (Sol Heras) is a drug addict, and of course, of all the things parents worry about over their kids, this scenario is up there in the top ten of Things That’ll Keep Mum and Dad Awake Nights.

Michelle makes the horrifying discovery in a forthcoming episode when she follows Ryan into the loos at the Rovers, where he’s gone to snort a line of cocaine.

And of her character Michelle’s horror moment of realization about her son, Kym Marsh has told Soaplife that she will run the gamut of emotions as it sinks in what this means for her little family.

Kym began by saying, “At first, Michelle doesn’t realise just how much Ryan has changed and the trouble he is causing…

“She is so happy to have him back, expecting him to be the same person he always was. But over time she begins to realise he’s not.

“When she does, she struggles to cope and is not sure what to do.”

The moment that Michelle walks in on Ryan snorting drugs is prompted by a stand off in the bar between Michelle and David Platt (Jack P Shepherd) after he tells her that Ryan tried to sell drugs to his wife Kylie (Paula Lane).

Of that, Kym said, “Ryan and Kylie strike up a friendship and he offers her drugs, but she refuses and tells David, who goes ballistic and tells Michelle.

”So then she catches Ryan taking cocaine in the loos at The Rovers…

“She wants to kill him! She is so angry and ashamed, especially as he seems more concerned about the drugs he drops than the fact he has been caught.”

Kym added, “I think the fact that he isn’t responding to her makes her feel completely helpless.

“She is in a state of panic and doesn’t know what else to do, so she calls the police to report him.”

Ryan of course swears to his mum that it was a one-off and won’t happen again, but as much as Michelle wants to believe him, she suspects he’s lying yet again.

Kym said, “She wants to believe it was a one-off, but she knows it’s serious by the way he reacts when he drops the drugs.

“Michelle loses all trust in him and even cuts up his credit cards…

“I think her biggest fear is that he is putting himself in real danger, risking everything, including his life.

“For the first time since his return, she truly realises how much he has changed, and now she knows why.”

It is of course rumoured that Ryan will introduce Sophie Webster (Brooke Vincent) to drugs, which will lead her on a path of self-destructive ruin.
