Corrie star Natalie Gumede says “Terrified isn’t the word!” over filming birth scenes
Coronation Street star Natalie Gumede, who of course plays nuttier than squirrel poo Kirsty Soames, keeps a regular online blog, and in her latest entry, she’s revealed that she’s “terrified” about filming the scenes in which Kirsty gives birth.
Kirsty is of course Tyrone Dobbs’ fiancé, and at the centre of a controversial storyline which sees her being violent towards poor old Ty (Alan Halsall).
In her blog, Natalie revealed that playing the preggers Kirsty isn’t always easy…
She wrote, “There is a small part of me which doesn’t mind that the thermometer levels are miserable for June, as Kirsty is now heavily pregnant – so I am heavily padded up!!”
She added, “Two very tightly fitting bodysuits, each with big cushions sewn in, worn one on top of the other, does not make for comfortable wearing when the sun is out…
“It also serves as a reminder that we will soon be welcoming a baby into no.9, which will present a new challenge for me as an actor.”
And of the new arrival who’s soon to put in an appearance on the nation’s favourite street, Natalie wrote, “I’m going to make the most of the next few weeks which are quiet for me before the inevitable build up to the ‘birth scene’ – terrified isn’t the word!!”
Soapy pregnancies are of course much shorter than the nine months it takes to cook a bubby in the real world. Soap babies tend to arrive about six to seven months after we discover someone’s expecting, and with Kirsty, we found out she was preggers in January.
I wonder how being a mum is going to affect Kirsty’s temper? Do you reckon it’ll mellow her out a bit or make her violent outbursts worse?
