Corrie: Tyrone Dobbs plots to get baby Ruby away from mental Kirsty Soames! But he’s shocked by Fiz’s plan…

by Lynn Connolly

As we reported last week, in upcoming episodes of Coronation Street, naïve Tyrone Dobbs (Alan Halsall) finally learns what a monster his fiancé Kirsty Soames is when he overhears her threatening his best friend Fiz Stape…

However, he’s then left with a dilemma; stay with Kirsty (Natalie Gumede) and risk her turning her violent temper on their baby daughter Ruby? Or leave Kirsty, taking Ruby with him.

He chooses the latter, however, as Kirsty craftily didn’t put his name on Ruby’s birth certificate – as a safeguard against just this eventuality – he has no legal rights to the child.

Evidently paternity DNA testing hasn’t yet reached Weatherfield…

But nonetheless, Tyrone gets his mate Tommy Duckworth (Chris Fountain) to take him and Ruby to the train station while Kirsty’s out at work. However, when Fiz (Jennie McAlpine) finds out, she begs Tommy to go back to collect Tyrone, stressing that if Kirsty reports him to the police, they’ll track him down and arrest him for child abduction!

Tommy does as she asks and manages to bring Ty back to Weatherfield where Fiz explains that she’s found a solution to the problem…

Ty needs to marry Kirsty!

A show insider said, “Fiz begs Tyrone to reconsider. She explains that the best way to keep Ruby is to marry Kirsty as he will get parental responsibility of Ruby, giving him a father’s rights.

“He can then fight Kirsty for custody. She warns him that absconding will get him into big trouble and hers is a better long-term solution.

“Whether or not she can persuade him to return home before Kirsty discovers what he’s been up to remains to be seen.

“She tells him that she will do everything in her power to stop Kirsty from taking his daughter away from him.”

We’ll see these dramatic scenes a week on Wednesday, but for now, here’s a reminder of Tyrone and Fiz in happier times…
