Corrie: When Peter Barlow and Carla Connor arrive back on the Street, Leanne calls off her wedding to Nick Tilsley!
And that’s because their sudden reappearance after months away prompts his fiancé Leanne (Jane Danson) who is of course Peter’s ex-wife, to call off their planned wedding in Vegas!
The dramatic plot begins a week today when Peter (Chris Gascoyne) and Carla (Alison King) turn up in a taxi, just as Leanne and Nick are about to leave for the airport ahead of their wedding, but fearing that in her absence, Peter may try to take his son Simon (Alex Bain) and disappear with him, as he tried to do once before…
So Leanne tells Nick she can’t risk it and won’t leave the country, however, the resilient and evidently determined Nick (Ben Price) takes the news with relative equanimity and resolves to reschedule the nuptials in England. And as we’ll soon hear, he books a Christmas Day wedding for himself and Leanne!
However, what Nick doesn’t know is that seeing Peter again brings a flood of feelings rushing back for Leanne, and secretly, she comes to realize that though she’s fond of Nick, she doesn’t love him like she loves Peter.
And as we’ll see in upcoming episodes, Peter proudly tells his dad Ken (Bill Roache) that he’s very much still on the wagon and hasn’t had a drink for months…
A Corrie insider has been talking to the Star about what lies ahead for Peter, Carla, Nick and Leanne, saying, “Everyone has come out on to the street to wave Nick, Leanne and Simon off when ¬Peter and Carla step out of a taxi.
“Obviously their return stops them from leaving.
“Simon is so excited to see his dad so there was no way they could still go away. Leanne is totally rattled by Peter’s reappearance in their lives.
“She is worried that he is going to want to take Simon back off her. After all, he is his father.”
The insider added, “There are a lot of old wounds between both couples.
“And in the run-up to Christmas there are going to be some very emotional and at times heated moments.
“Leanne will never forgive Carla for sleeping with her husband. They were friends and she will never get over it.
“She has been through so much but at least she had Simon. Now that Peter is back her biggest fear is that she will lose him.”
Eee, ducky, there’ll be tears before bedtime ‘ere, mark my words!
Here’s a reminder of the last time we saw Peter and Carla on the Street…
