Craig Charles found sleeping on Corrie set

Corrie actor Craig Charles is apparently in trouble with the show’s bosses again, for falling asleep while at work.

The Daily Mirror reports that Corrie boss Phil Collinson “sent him home” after he was found snoozing during filming.

The paper adds, “One scene had to be scrapped after crew were told Craig, 45, was in his dressing room, unable to be roused.”

Craig, who of course plays taxi driver Lloyd Mullaney, was said to be “horrified” at being caught literally napping.

A Corrie insider told the paper, “At first no one knew where Craig was.

“Word was that he just hadn’t shown up. It should have all started at 9am but then word came that Craig wasn’t around…

“Then people were saying he had crashed out in his dressing room and despite people knocking on his door he couldn’t be woken.”

However, it seems that there was a genuine reason for Craig’s tiredness; he’d been filling in for Radio 2’s Janice Long the night before and didn’t finish his show until 2am.

The show source said, “It looks as though Craig was just exhausted.

“When Phil met Craig in the afternoon, he was able to look Phil straight in the eye and tell him there was no problem.

“He was not drunk or anything like that.

“Phil accepted that and accepted an assurance this kind of thing would not happen again.”
