However, this second instalment opened things up a bit more as we got to know a few more of the minor characters a little bit more. In addition a couple of subplots have been set up to run alongside Stella’s investigation into Paul Spector’s murder spree, namely one concerning corruption in the Belfast Police Force.

Over the past few weeks I’ve felt like I’ve been constantly writing about crime drama. The past fortnight alone as seen the debut of four dramas based around police investigations – Life of Crime, Murder on the Home Front, The Fall and The Suspcions of Mr Whicher, so the last thing you’d think we needed was yet another crime-based series. Thankfully the latest crime drama on the block is the welcome return of Case Histories, whose first series aired back in 2011. This series will feature three ninety minute instalments, all based around stories by Kate Atkinson, the first of which is entitled – Started Early, Took Dog.

There are some programmes that feel like they just fit in the Bank Holiday schedules. Mystery drama Jonathan Creek is definitely one of those programmes due to its light nature and intriguing plots. It introduces us to a new-look Jonathan Creek who has grown-up, albeit only slightly, and is no longer living in that windmill. However we have to wait quite a while for Jonathan to actually appear on screen as we are first presented with the episode’s central mystery.
