Daft Punk’s performance at the GRAMMY Awards to feature big names

by Martin

Last month we revealed that French duo Daft Punk were among the list of performers for the 56th Annual GRAMMY Awards.

As the ceremony, which takes place on Sunday the 26th of January 2014 live from the Staples Center in Los Angeles draws closer we’re starting to learn even more – like who will be joining them on stage!

The 56th Annual GRAMMY Awards will be broadcast in full HD on the CBS Television Network from 8pm until 11:30pm (ET/PT) and Pink, Nate Ruess, Kendrick Lamar and Imagine Dragons are also set to perform.

Daft Punk released their new album ‘Random Access Memories’ last year and one of the tracks on the album (Get Lucky) featured Pharrell Williams and Nile Rodgers.

Drummer Omar Hakim who contributed to ‘Random Access Memories’ confirmed that he would be performing at the GRAMMYs alongside Daft Punk.

That’s not all however, Hakim spoke in an interview with My Small Story and also confirmed that Pharrell Williams, Nile Rodgers and Stevie Wonder would also be performing.

Grammy Executive Producer Ken Ehrlich spoke in an interview with Rolling Stone magazine.

He said: “We learned that because they had such a good experience with us when they appeared with Kanye in 2008, they were happy to discuss a performance on this year’s show,”

“Conversations took place over a period of a couple of months, and finally they agreed to be a part of this year’s telecast.

Details of the performance are still being worked out, but the idea of having the exclusive television performance by this iconic band is something we’re very, very excited about.”

We wonder if the appearance at the 56th Annual GRAMMY Awards will be a hint at future appearances throughout 2014, Glastonbury anybody?

Have a listen to ‘Get Lucky’ below which we’re sure by now, you’ll all have heard.
