In his ongoing commitment to extraordinary photoshoots for heat magazine, David Walliams squeezes his formidable 6ft 3in frame into Pippa Middleton’s bridesmaid’s dress. OK, it’s a cunning replica of said outfit, but there’s no doubting David’s commitment to the cause.
David was in the US during the royal wedding, but got up early to watch it. And he cried, mainly because he kept thinking about how sad it was that Prince William’s mother couldn’t be there. “But it did create a star, didn’t it?” he points out. “Pippa Middleton. She looked great in her dress, and the next day she was an international superstar. And we’ve never even heard her say anything!”
Asked if he was approached to be a judge on Britain’s Got Talent, David revealed: “I think a lot of people were probably approached to see if they were interested, and I did have a conversation with Simon Cowell about it, but the dates were never going to work.”
He added: “I think I’d like to be a judge eventually, if I could have the seat next to Simon. That would be my condition. I’d like to be in the Cheryl Cole seat. He usually has the person he fancies sitting next to him. But I actually don’t know if I could judge people’s talent. I don’t know if I’ve got enough talent myself. I think I’d find it hard to say no to people. Simon didn’t ever need to be liked, whereas a performer generally wants the approval of the public, especially if you’re a comedian. So if you have to say no and start getting booed by audiences, it can be tricky. But I don’t know… maybe one day I’ll do one.”
