Davina McCall “so sad” over Biggest Loser trainer Angie Dowds’ suicide

TV host Davina McCall – who presents The Biggest Loser – last night tweeted her sorrow at hearing the sad news that The Biggest Loser’s fitness trainer Angie Dowds had killed herself.

As we reported yesterday, Angie’s body was found at the foot of cliffs at Beachy Head, which is a notorious suicide spot…

It was here that former EastEnders star David Scarboro – who sporadically played the role of Mark Fowler from 1985 to 1987 – also killed himself after suffering from depression.

Writing on Twitter, Davina said, “Rest in peace Angie Dowds @angechops. So so sad.”

Daybreak presenter Kate Garraway, who has also previously hosted The Big Loser, tweeted, “So sad about Angie Dowds.

“She found it so hard to see herself as the cool, inspiring, great woman others saw and loved. RIP Darling xxx.”

The Sun reports that Angie was also Kate’s personal trainer off-screen.

A former Biggest Loser winner, Kevin Sage, wrote on Facebook, “The strongest most amazing light has just gone. I’m glad I was a part of that.”

The Sun goes on to report that, as had been speculated yesterday when news of Angie’s suicide broke, she had recently been suffering from depression following a split from her lesbian partner, Corrie Preece.

The paper adds, “Yoga teacher Corrie Preece, 37, who had been engaged to Angie and lived with her for three years, was too upset to speak at her London home.”

How desperately sad. Our condolences to Angie’s family and friends.
