Dawn French and Jennifer Saunders to reunite for new Comic Strip Presents comedy
It’s hard to believe that it’s been three years since we last saw comedy duo Jennifer Saunders and Dawn French performing together on screen, but as they last paired up to play a sketch for Comic Relief in 2009, it has indeed been that long.
The pair of course first shot to fame as a duo in their hit series French and Saunders, but both are equally well known for their participation in The Comic Strip Presents skits.
But now, they are apparently set to reunite again for The Comic Strip Presents: Five Go To Rehab, which is of course a spoof on Enid Blyton’s series of 21 children’s books, The Famous Five.
Jennifer’s comedian husband Ade Edmondson will also star in the one-off special…
A show insider told TV Biz, “It’s great that Dawn and Jennifer are back together again. Viewers have really missed them.”
The show is due to be filmed this month in Devon and will air later this year on comedy channel Gold.
Dawn and Jennifer have of course both been busy with their individual projects over the last few years, such as – for Jennifer – penning and starring in the new Absolutely Fabulous episodes, and Dawn is of course a judge/mentor on Andrew Lloyd-Webber’s new reality show, Superstar.
The show’s commissioning editor, Sarah Fraser, said, “Five Go To Rehab is one family reunion where extreme havoc reigns.”
Here’s a reminder of another Comic Strip Presents spoof…
