Adam Lambert recently spoke to ITV breakfast show Daybreak and discussed a variety of topics including his involvement in ‘Glee’ where he plays the role of Elliott ‘Starchild’ Gilbert.
The singer, who first found fame on American Idol explained to interviewer Ross King that he enjoys acting and taking part in ‘Glee’ was the best way to prepare him for other possibilities.
Speaking on the UK breakfast show on Thursday (21st November) Lambert not only spoke about his acting role but how he was inspired by the glam rock period and how the two combined into his role on ‘Glee’:
“This is a great exercise in being an actor for hire. They said, ‘we’d like you to guest star in the show and this is what we have for you, this is what we wrote.'”
“I think they based some of it off of me, so it’s not too far of a stretch, but it’s a whole new experience for me. It’s cool.”
He continued: “I’ve always really identified with that because of the theatrics, fashion and the rock and roll.”
Discussing the glam rock period and incorporating that into ‘Glee’ Lambert said: “It’s something I was gravitating towards before I was on ‘American Idol’, for example, and I’ve always cited that movement in rock as something that inspired me.”
“You know Queen – early Queen – was very camp and glam rock. I think they based Starchild’s audition, which is his first scene, on wanting to be that type of performer.”
What do you think? Is Adam perhaps going to focus more on acting? Would you like to see him do so or are you happy with him just making music? Is it possible to do both? Let us know below.
