Daybreak: Lorraine Kelly says she’ll make the breakfast show fun! (VIDEO)

As you’re probably aware, Lorraine Kelly and Aled Jones took over as lead anchors on the revamped Daybreak today, and in an interview for today’s TV Biz, Lorraine vowed to bring the fun factor back to the show.

Lorraine, who of course writes a column for The Sun, said, “We’re going back to basics.

“It’s all about giving people the main news and showbiz of the day.

“We’re bringing some of the fun back, not fun resulting from silly stunts, it’s having a sense of humour.

“But you don’t want to change everything.”

And of teaming up with Aled – who was of course the angelic voiced young boy who sang the theme tune to Christmas fave, The Snowman – Lorraine said, “He’s very sharp and well-informed.

“And he doesn’t indulge in some kind of gladiatorial ‘I’m cleverer than you’ nonsense…

“He gets on with it.”

Lorraine will be on the breakfast show from 7am each weekday, except Fridays when Kate Garraway will take her place.

She’ll end her Daybreak stint at 8.30am, then switch to her usual Lorraine show.

Daybreak’s bosses hope that viewing figures will now grow from around 500,000 per day to in excess of a million. Their rival BBC Breakfast show often records up to two million viewers.

However, Lorraine said, “It isn’t going to happen overnight. I just hope people tune in, like what they see and come back and stick with us.”

Here’s a clip of Lorraine and Aled in action this morning…

Is the show improved with Lorraine and Aled at the helm do you think?
