Daybreak’s Christine Bleakley to front ‘Guess The Star’

When Christine Bleakley made the leap from BBC to ITV, there was a £4million transfer fee attached, and we all waited to see just what ITV would get for their money.

With Daybreak’s figures ever decreasing it seemed like Bleakley’s career choice had been questionable, but ITV always maintained that she would be involved in many other entertainment projects, and it looks like they are about to deliver.

Bleakley is reportedly in the process of filming pilots of a remake of ITV iconic show, ‘Stars in their Eyes’, originally hosted by Leslie Crowther in the 1980’s.

“When ITV signed Christine from the BBC they made it very clear she would be working on other projects. You don’t pay someone £4m just to present a breakfast programme, especially one that is underperforming,” a source told the Sunday Mirror.

“The show is only in the development stage but ITV are hoping it will be the perfect platform for Christine to launch herself as a primetime entertainment presenter.

Since the Crowther days the show has seen a long line of presenters front the show, which saw everyday people transformed into their idols in an impersonator talent show, including Matthew Kelly, Russ Abbott, Kat Deely and Davina McCall.

This new look show comes with a different spin of things though.

In the new version, stars of stage and screen will perform as their favourite artists, completely transformed into them, with the audience having to guess who they are.

Pauline Quirke and Louis Spence are rumoured to be signed up as panel judges for the show.

“The show is only in the development stage but ITV are hoping it will be the perfect platform for Christine to launch herself as a primetime entertainment presenter.

“The prosthetics people are absolutely brilliant and from what we’ve been told they make the celebs absolutely unrecognisable.”

Guess the Star is expected to air on 2012 should the pilots be a success.
