Demi Lovato has revealed that she has a huge respect for Taylor Swift and her songwriting because what she writes about is honest and doesn’t write what everyone else seems to be singing about.
The X Factor USA judge also released the official music video for her new single ‘Neon Lights’ which is lifted from her current album ‘Demi’.
Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, Demi confessed that she’s glad that she isn’t alone when it comes to singing songs about subjects that she has no personal interest in.
She used Taylor Swift as an example of someone she respects because her songwriting isn’t following everyone else’s pattern about hooking up or partying.
In the interview with Entertainment Weekly the beauty said: “I don’t really care because those things don’t apply to my life at all. A good example of that is Taylor Swift.”
“We’ve had conversations about this where I’m like, ‘I have so much respect for you as an artistbecause you don’t have to write about that stuff.'”
Lovato continued: “She’s like, ‘Well, I don’t go out.’ I don’t go out to clubs and I don’t party and to me, it says more when you don’t have to do things for shock value.”
“You’re more respected as an artist. And that’s what I want to be, I want to be respected as an artist and not a tabloid headline.”
Taylor Swift also recently sat down with New York magazine and admitted that in her music she’ll always lay herself bare because she believes in that kind of setting it’s important to be appear vulnerable:
“I think allowing yourself to feel raw, real emotions in public is something I am never going to be afraid to do. Hopefully that’s the case, if I can remain a real human.”
“I’m fine with being honest with my fans about the fact that it’s okay that everything isn’t okay all the time.”
