Julie Benz has been chatting about her return to Dexter in season five.

The 38 year old actress, whose character Rita was killed off in the season four finale, admitted that she hadn’t thought her morbid return through beforehand.

“I’m one of those actors that doesn’t actually think through things,” she told Entertainment Weekly. “I didn’t actually think I’d actually have to lie in a coffin. Until the day, when I was like, ‘Oh, I have to get into the coffin… So it’s me that has to do it’.”

She added: “But you know, it was quite comfortable. Once I was in, I actually stayed in.”

Benz, who recently guest starred on Desperate Housewives, also laughed that her murder on Dexter has left her with a pathological fear of baths. She joked that she has even asked for the tub to be removed from the set of her new show No Ordinary Family.

“I’m learning important things as my career goes on,” she said. “When they build a magnificent bathroom set and you don’t use it all season, expect it to be used in the finale and expect somebody to end up in the bathtub dead. That’s just my words of advice.”
