Dexter Morgan will be back to his good old self when he returns to our screens this autumn.
Season six of the hit crime drama is due to make it’s comeback this September and new showrunner Scott Buck has claimed that he will have a more ‘centred’ approach to his life in general and killing particular in this sixth run.
Buck told Entertainment Weekly:
[It’s] a very strong, sure-of-himself Dexter, which would be the difference from the Dexter of last year, where Dexter was questioning himself about everything. A year has passed since the end of last season, so Dexter has put his life in order. Things are good for him. He’s very centered, strong and focused, much the same way he was in season 1, but now he knows so much more. He’s a much more self-assured person. A more evolved serial killer.
This season’s baddie role will be taken on by Edward James Olmos. He will play Professor Gellar and Scott promises that he will be a ‘different’ serial killer, who is responsible for ‘bigger crimes.’
They are probably the biggest crimes we’ve ever seen on this show. We’re going toward a different kind of serial killer than what we usually see. This is someone more in line with the Zodiac Killer…. He kills people with great conviction. This is probably the first serial killer we’ve had who thinks he’s in the right.
It sounds like Gellar has his own ‘code’ so it’s no surprise that Dex finds himself ‘curious’ about the new celebrity in town. Buck admits that the blood spatter analyst will take a particular interest in the Professor, saying:
Professor Gellar definitely feels like he’s killing for a reason, and Dexter is very, very curious to know what exactly that reason is, and to try to understand it in some way. It’s very intriguing and baffling, and it doesn’t make sense to Dexter.
