DISPATCHES: SAVING AFRICA’S WITCH CHILDREN
In some of the poorest parts of Nigeria, where evangelical religious fervour is combined with a belief in sorcery and black magic, many thousands of children are being blamed for catastrophes, death and famine: and branded witches. Denounced as Satan made flesh by powerful pastors and prophetesses, these children are abandoned, tortured, starved and murdered: all in the name of Jesus Christ.
This Dispatches special follows the work of one Englishman, 29-year-old Gary Foxcroft, who has devoted his life to helping these desperate and vulnerable children.

I am watching it right now and am in shock. I cant believe this is allowed to happen to these poor poor children. It is so upsetting.

THESE PEOPLE NEED EDUCATING…….
How on earth can they be so cruel to their kids. I understand that these are very poor people but to do what they are doing is absolutely disgusting. I could not believe what I was watching. Someone should suggest the mothers and fathers drink the potions, have nails driven into their skulls, have crap dripped into their eyes and ears, be placed on a fire and suffer the pain as they were the ones who created the children. Perhaps they should stop having children altogether if this is what the poor things have to endure. It just should not be happening anywhere in the world in this day and age. This is abuse in the absolute. These people need educating and punishing for the hideous things they are doing. THESE ARE CHILDREN FOR GODS SAKE…………………
First i would like to say that gary and the team are graeat and brave people who deserve to be rewarded for thier hard and caring work they are doing. i found the doc very disturbing and i couldn’t believe thing like that still happen in this world, my heart goes out to them children.
I was so shocked by the program (which showed the evil caused by the introduction of foreign religions)that I have just contacted Amnesty International and Unicef to urge them both to start campaigning on this issue. It can’t be left to one compassionate individual to deal with this atrocity. It has to be dealt with on an international basis with big organisations putting pressure on the Nigerian government to act against the so called “exorcists” and establish effective laws to protect the rights of children.Meanwhile Gary Foxcroft needs funding and I also contacted “Children in Need” to ask if they could help him. After all I can’t think of any other group of children in more need of help. And surely not British children who by comparison have it all! Please do the same and press big organisations to act.
OMG, I have never seen such suffering of small innocent children such as that. I can’t believe it. What they are suffering is scary beyond belief!
These people need re-educating & they need help…now, but how?
If you go to the Stepping Stones Nigeria website (the charity run by Gary and Nem) http://www.steppingstonesnigeria.org there are a number of ways you can help, from signing petitions to donating money to support their vital work. The more money they raise, the more children they can save.
Last nights doc was so disturbing. How can humans be so cruel. I have just giving birth to my 1st child and looking at him this morning thinking how anyone could hurt children. These poor children are terrified, God bless them and they will be in my prayers.
It is unreal..but then in this country you can’t say anything against this horrible practicecause they will call you a racist and probably charge you heavily..even more unreal!
