Do we want Emmerdale’s Gennie and Nikhil to become an item?

by Lynn Connolly

As fans of Emmerdale will know, Gennie Walker (Sian Reese-Williams) has had a crush on factory boss Nikhil Sharma for months…

However, recently, locum vet Nicky Pritchard (Matt Milburn) took a shine to Gennie, and they are now dating.

But Rik Makarem, who plays Nikhil, has revealed that despite previously shunning Gennie when she confessed she was in love with Nikhil, his alter ego is now in love with her!

So would we like to see them getting together? Or is Gennie better off with Nicky?

Speaking to Soaplife, Rik said, “Suddenly all the things he has appreciated in Gennie come into sharp focus…

“Deep down he knows that Gennie is The One, but it’s Nicky’s interest in her that’s made it come to the fore.

“It makes Nikhil realise just what he’s missing. He 100 per cent regrets being so harsh on her when she told him she loved him.”

Since Gennie more or less threw herself at Nikhil – and was deeply humiliated when he threw her right back – she’s cooled towards him considerably, and has even given her notice at the factory…

However, when Nikhil sees Nicky talking to a mystery woman, he puts two and two together and comes up with about 43! He even ends up punching Nicky while accusing him of cheating on Gennie.

But the truth is, he was just lining up a job for Gennie with his sister-in-law.

Of Nikhil punching Nicky, Rik said, “He’s incredibly embarrassed! He’s really dropped himself in it.

“Nikhil tries to defend himself, but Gennie’s not impressed.

”Gennie screams at him to leave her and Nicky alone and he knows it’s over. He feels empty, sad, dead inside.”

And finally, Rik said, “He truly believes Nicky cannot possibly love her the way he does.”

I’d love to see Nikhil and Gennie getting together, just because I’m an old romantic and enjoy the whole will-they-won’t-they dealio, but what say you?
