Bert Large (Ian McNeice) could be the man to put Portwenn on the culinary map. In a life changing decision he abandons his plumbing business to open his own restaurant.

But as with Bert’s previous enterprises, the new business venture is fraught with problems.

The opening of Large’s restaurant is far from a success, when Dr Martin Ellingham, who has a phobia about blood, finds a spot of blood on his plate. To the embarrassment of Louisa (Caroline Catz), Martin complains to Bert in front of the other customers, threatening a visit from Environmental Health unless he can clean up his act.

To make matters worse for Bert, the following day the surgery is inundated with patients with symptoms of food poisoning, and all claiming to have eaten at his restaurant.
