In the build-up to this Christmas Day Doctor Who special, The Time of the Doctor, BBC America has released an extended trailer for what will be Matt Smith’s final appearance on the show.
After all the hype and excitement surrounding November’s 50th anniversary special The Day of the Doctor, it was almost easy to forget that this month we will see the final episode to feature Matt Smith as the 12th Time Lord.
But, unfortunately for us, this is precisely what we have to look forward to next week as Smith bows out of the show and makes way for Peter Capaldi to take over the Tardis helm for the first time.
Of course the regeneration itself isn’t all this festive treat has in store for us as snippets of information have confirmed the appearance of not only the classic enemies the Daleks, but also the newly revived Cybermen too.
Throw in Jenna-Louise Coleman trying to get the Doctor to help her cook dinner and all in all Christmas evening looks set to be a cracker.
If you don’t believe us then take a look at the extended trailer itself in the clip featured at the bottom of this article!
In the footage we can see Smith and Coleman trying to have a normal family Christmas at home as well as a guest appearance Sheila Reid, who originally appeared in Doctor Who back in 1985, who is playing Clara’s grandmother.
Also featured is a menacing Dalek who can be seen threatening The Doctor, telling him: “You will die in silence Doctor.”
Doctor Who return to our BBC 1 screen this Christmas Day (December 25th) at 7.30pm where Matt Smith will take his final bow before regenerating into the next Doctor, Peter Capaldi.
