With a new Time Lord and series, the new era of Doctor Who is also coming complete with a fancy title sequence….a title sequence that has been inspired by one of the shows fans!

Billy Hanshaw, a motion graphics designer from Leeds, created his own version of what he thinks the opening title sequence of the hit BBC family sci-fi series should look like and uploaded it to YouTube.

However, he is about to see it on a bigger screen, as the video has made its way over to show runner Steven Moffat who absolutely loved it! In fact he was such a fan, he decided to use it in the upcoming series, which is due to hit our BBC screens next weekend.

Discussing this sequence, which has had over 700,000 views on the media site, in a recent interview with Doctor Who News, Moffat revealed:

“Hanshaw created this title sequence, put it up on YouTube. I happened to cross it, and it was the only new title idea I’d seen since 1963.

“We got in touch with him, and said, okay, we’re going to do that one.”

Meanwhile, with all the focus on next weekend’s opening episode, Deep Breath, a synopsis for the second episode has now been released from the BBC hinting at troubling times ahead for The Doctor’s most notorious enemy, the Daleks!

The episode, which has been written by Phil Ford who also wrote the 2010 special The Waters of Mars, also hints at an insight in to the new Doctor’s much-anticipated character traits, as the question of whether he is a “good man” or not teases to be answered.

The full synopsis reads:

“A Dalek fleet surrounds a lone rebel ship, and only the Doctor can help them now… with the Doctor facing his greatest enemy, he needs Clara by his side.”
