Doctor Who 50th Anniversary: Matt Smith, Sylvester McCoy, Colin Baker & Tom Baker to join former cast members for celebration weekend!
Departing Time Lord, Matt Smith, has revealed that he will be amongst the special guest stars attending the Doctor Who 50th anniversary celebratory weekend in November.
Smith, who announced last month that he was to leave the iconic title role during this year’s Christmas Day special, will join former Doctors Sylvester McCoy and Colin Baker at the two day event at London’s ExCeL Centre between November 22 & 24.
Also expected to make an appearance is Tom Baker who played the fourth Time Lord, with other influential names from the show’s past expected to confirm their attendance soon.
On the event Smith, whose replacement on the main show has yet to be decided or announced, commented to the Metro newspaper:
“The event this year will be an extra special occasion for me,
“I’m truly looking forward to a huge celebration with the fans in the lead-up to the 50th anniversary episode.”
Those attending the weekend, for which tickets will go on sale from July 8 with full details shown on the official Doctor Who website, can look forward to two panel shows featuring cast members, a special show presented by the shows special effects exec Danny Hargreaves as well as stunt and visual effects workshops.
There will also be a chance for you to get an autograph or photo with one of your favourite stars in booths around the event.
The weekend falls on the same weekend that the special 50th anniversary episode is due to be broadcast in 2D and 3D in cinemas and TV’s around the country, which will see Smith joining his predecessor David Tennant and his side kick Billie Piper (Rose Tyler) as well as several other special guests including John Hurt and Joanna Page.
