Doctor Who: Billie Piper rules out 50th anniversary return!
The nation’s favourite Doctor Who companion, Billie Piper, has ruled out a come-back for the show’s 50th anniversary celebrations, claiming that she hasn’t even been approached by producers to take part!
Piper, who played Rose Tyler in the popular BBC family sci-fi show from 2005 through till 2010, had been expected to make a one-off return for the anniversary special after current Time Lord, Matt Smith, hinted that he was looking forward to working with her.
Discussing this last summer Smith, who began his spell as the 11th Doctor in the show’s history back in 2010, said of the recasting of Piper: “If I wanted a companion from the past I would say Rose because I am good friends with Billie.”
However Piper, who also starred as Belle in the raunchy drama Secret Diary of a Call Girl, stifled all rumours of a return in a recent interview on Graham Norton’s chat show.
When asked by Norton if she would be involved in the 50th celebrations of the show, Piper replied:
“No. I’ve not been asked.
“I think Matt Smith said something in passing or in jest like, ‘That would be nice’, and it became something, but no.”
If Piper were to return to the show Smith will be the third Doctor that she has worked with, having started her time on the show with Christopher Eccleston’s Doctor when the sci-fi series was first revamped by the BBC in 2005, followed by a spell with David Tennant before she left her role three years ago.
