Doctor Who: Bonnie Langford would love to reprise her role as Mel, and Steven Moffat promises more baddies!
She featured as the Doctor’s companion while Colin Baker and Sylvester McCoy played the Time Lord.
Speaking to the PA, Bonnie said, “I’d love [to return] because I might get a few lines other than, ‘Oh Doctor!’ That was what I was always like.
“Now the companions are rounded characters, which is always so much more fun to play. But I had a good time doing it.”
She added, “I have good memories of the people I worked with. The show used to attract an amazing cast.
“When you look all the notable people who’ve been guests on that programme over the years, it’s quite extraordinary. It’s a legend, a national treasure…”
I’m sure Steven Moffat, who writes the show, would agree, and apropos of him, he’s promised that in the forthcoming new series, the baddies will be bigger, better and more scary than ever!
He was also speaking to the PA when he said of the show’s legendary baddies, such as the Cyberman and the Daleks, “One of the temptations, particularly if it’s a success, is to keep repeating your hits, which means you hear it again and again and again.
“I always say the new monsters in Dr Who are better, because when you fall in love with the monsters, it’s when they’re new.”
The last series of course introduced The Silence, who were considered by many – Matt Smith included – to be the most terrifying baddie yet.
Which of Doctor Who’s many scary enemies have made you tremble behind a cushion?
