    DOCTOR WHO THE NEXT DOCTOR

Is it at all possible we can rename this THE LAST DOCTOR? I will not decry the performances of the actors as in general they are always consistently worthy including this piece of cyber-matic rubbish. David Tennant did his best along with David Morrissey to at least inject some humour into the long awaited traditional Christmas Who fest. Dervla Kirwan, who plays the villainess of the piece, Miss Hartigan, strolled through the story dressed like a fire hydrant as if waiting for any dog to cocks its leg. However, she did added a modicum of camp to the whole event.

The climax, if that is the correct expression showed that the “lead writer” had now gone so far as to steal from the Transformer franchise and call it a Cyber-King! I am sorry but in the whole history of the Cybermen from their first appearance in THE TENTH PLANET (1966) even up to the current series of production, there has never in 42 years has there been the mention of a Cyber-King. And if there must be one surely with a woman in charge it would have been Cyber-Queen? If the plot had anything going for it, it was only that the show looked very pretty.

To add insult to injury we then had an hour of the whole production team from tea lady to RTD sitting smugly allowing their egos to go into full self-massage on DOCTOR WHO CONIFDENTIAL – resurrecting a tired formula and making a success of it is one thing but now one feels the bubble has burst and yet we still have four more of the Davis specials to survive. Would it be more appropriate now that RTD to now “delete” himself and go to another arena of self-indulgent, self-motivating, self-satisfying, self-serving nepotistic copy?
