And Fern Britton says the show is “dreary”

Karen Gillan, who of course plays Doctor Who’s sidekick Amy Pond – but who will be exiting the show this year – has confirmed that she and her boyfriend of six years, Patrick Green, have separated.

Her co-star Matt Smith also recently split from his girlfriend, Daisy Lowe, prompting the Sun to call Karen’s split from Patrick, “The Doctor Who curse.”

Karen revealed the news that she and Patrick were no longer an item during an interview with the Radio Times about her role as super-model Jean Shrimpton in the BBC drama, We’ll Take Manhattan.

However, as she’s described as “fiercely private” Karen didn’t expand on the information, only confirming that she and Patrick were no longer together…

In a separate interview with the Sun’s TV Biz, Karen revealed that she’s “fascinated” by space, and dreams of one day traveling to the stars and beyond.

She said, “Space excites me. My dream is to go to space.”

And it seems her ambitions don’t end there, as she expressed an interest in becoming a hypnotist too!

She said, “I’d be a hypnotist, like Paul McKenna. I’d make people feel like they are in love.”

In other Doctor Who news, the Sun also reports today that Fern Britton reckons the show is “dreary” and is one of her “pet hates.”

Fern made the confession while filming an edition of Room 101 in which celebrities talk viewers through their pet peeves and dislikes.

In the episode, which airs on Sunday at 10:55pm on BBC1, Fern says, “I think Doctor Who is the most dreary thing, I think it’s… dreary.

“And I tried to watch Star Wars three times but I’ve never got past the first 12 minutes as I’ve always fallen asleep.

“I hate sci-fi as it’s not real and all these people who are fans think it’s real and it’s some sort of religion to them.”

Fern is joined in the first outing of the new series of Room 101 by DJ Danny Baker and comedian Robert Webb, who likewise discuss their pet hates.
