Whilst the entire country/world (apart from a few lucky Americans who already know due to a shipping error) wait with anticipation for this Saturday’s series seven finale of Doctor Who, it’s main star, Matt Smith, has been stripping down for his new movie role.
The star, who has been cast to play Bully in How To Catch A Monster, was pictured in yesterday’s Daily Mirror newspaper topless, sporting a rather impressive six pack.
But, whilst we all appreciate a glimpse of the usually plaid covered torso, the rest of his wardrobe for the film, which is the directorial debut of Hollywood A-lister Ryan Gosling, leaves a lot to be desired.
In other pictures of Smith filming in Detroit, he can be seen wearing shapeless, low hung grey trousers, held together by a horseshoe and rope, and a black bomber jacket covered in holographic shimmer spots, much like the sort worn by the likes of MC Hammer and Vanilla Ice in the late 1980’s.
But, despite probably not wanting to take any of his wardrobe home after the movie has wrapped, Smith is still very pleased to be part of the film, due for release next year.
He told Total Film: “I was in New York and I was about to fly back, and then I got a phone call saying Ryan wanted to meet me and come over. So I read his film and I thought it was brilliant.
“And then I auditioned and we spent about four hours together doing some stuff, and he filmed it on his iPhone. And that was it. I’m really excited. I think he’s really clever, and I think it’s going to be an exciting project.”
Matt quite fancies Ryan too he confessed and added:
“I have admired his abdominals in Crazy Stupid Love. Yes, he’s a very handsome man, that’s for sure.”
“He’s cool. He’s bright, you know. He’s got a really clear, really brilliant vision for his film. And I’m a huge fan of his work as an actor. I think he makes brilliant choices.”
How To Catch A Monster is due for release next year, in the meantime watch some footage of a torso bearing Matt Smith in action filming it in the clip below:
