New Doctor Who star Matt Smith has split from his girlfriend after the pressures of filming took their toll.

Matt had been dating Brazilian punk singer Mayana Moura for just over a year but as the filming schedule for Doctor Who stepped up in Wales, the couple drifted apart.

A show source told The Sun: “Matt and Mayana adore each other, but the timing was not right and the relationship just ran its course.

“Matt has been up in Cardiff for the past few weeks filming and he will be in Wales for the next four months on a very gruelling shoot.”

The insider added: “This job means the world to him.”
