Doctor Who: Matt Smith wants Olympic tickets & David Tennant begins filming for The Politician’s Husband

News from the Tardis today includes current Time Lord portrayer Matt Smith revealing that he’s desperate to get his mitts on tickets for the Olympic rowing events, and also that former Doctor Who star David Tennant has begun filming for new drama, The Politician’s Husband.

Starting with Matt, he developed a love for rowing while filming for new drama Bert and Dickie, in which he plays the role of Olympian Bert Bushnell who won gold in the sport in 1948.

Matt, who stars alongside Sam Hoare in the BBC drama, told the Sun, “Me and Sam would love to go to the rowing…

“But the guys we trained with who were in the Olympics said they only get one ticket each for their families.”

He jokingly added, “If anyone’s listening, if there’s any opportunity…”

Matt of course also carried the Olympic torch through Cardiff, which he revealed had been one of the most thrilling things he’s ever done.

Of the torch, he said, “I’m going to get it mounted on my wall.”

Returning to David Tennant’s new role playing the part of a high-flying MP in The Politician’s Wife, the Sun today his pictures of him on set wearing his PJs and a snazzy pair of purple slippers.

David has also gone blonde for the role in the BBC drama which sees his character’s career suddenly eclipsed by his wife’s. as a politician whose wife’s career his own.

The show, which will air next year, also stars Emily Watson and Ed Stoppard.
