Doctor Who Spoilers: The Name of the Doctor to feature Third Doctor (the late Jon Pertwee) and Bessie?

With many people chomping at the bit to find out what Saturday’s series seven finale of Doctor Who will bring us (apart from a few lucky American’s who already know due to a shipping error), a report in yesterday’s Daily Star newspaper has emerged suggesting that the third Doctor (played by the late Jon Pertwee) will be making a guest appearance!

The third Doctor, played by Pertwee from 1970-1974, was a suave, dapper, technologically oriented, and authoritative man of action who not only practised Venusian Aikido (or Karate) but enjoyed working on gadgets and riding all manner of vehicles, such as the Whomobile and his pride and joy, the canary-yellow vintage roadster nicknamed “Bessie.”
And it is with “Bessie” that he is said to make a comeback during Saturday night’s much-anticipated series finale.

According to the publication, fans will see a lightening shot of yellow, though to be Bessie as she whizzes past the current Doctor’s (Matt Smith) new companion Clara Oswald (Jenna-Louise Coleman), as shown in a teaser clip for the episode.

The sighting of this infamous vehicle is set to leave the space and time travelling duo wondering just what it is doing there, and just who is driving it.

But that’s not all we have to look forward to……

Guest starring Alex Kingston as River Song, Neve McIntosh as Madame Vastra, Dan Starkey as Strax, and Catrin Stewart as Jenny, The Name of the Doctor will see Clara summoned to an impossible conference call, alerting her that the deadly Whisper Men are closing in on Vastra, Jenny and Strax.

Someone is kidnapping the Doctor’s friends, leading him toward the one place in all of time and space that he should never go. It’s a deadly trap that threatens to unravel his past, present and future.

The Name of the Doctor features new monsters called the Whispermen and some scenes are set in Victorian Scotland, catch it on Saturday at 7pm on BBc1/BBC1 HD.
