Doctor Who star Karen Gillan has filmed her final “emotional” scenes as Amy Pond
As fans of Doctor Who will know, Karen Gillan bows out in the forthcoming new series, and it’s rumoured that her character, Amy Pond, is to be killed off, possibly along with the character of Rory Williams, who’s played by Arthur Darvill.
The Sun reports that an insider on the set of the show said, ”She was seen waving goodbye to the Doctor in his Tardis after a teary row with Rory.
”It was very emotional and viewers will feel that when they see the scenes on screen.”
Karen will leave the show during the fifth episode of the new series, and of course, former Emmerdale star – who’s currently starring in Titanic as Annie Desmond – Jenna-Louise Coleman is set to take over as the Time Lord’s companion during this year’s Christmas special…
The character of Amy was introduced in the 2012 episode entitled, The Eleventh Hour, when she was seen as a child meeting the Doctor (Matt Smith) who Amy asked for help in dealing with a strange phenomenon in her bedroom.
The Doctor had to rush off to deal with a problem, however, he promised the little girl that he would return in five minutes, but that five minutes became twelve years. In the intervening time, Amy’s family believed that the Doctor was the child’s imaginary friend, and they sought psychiatric care for her…
And the rest, as they say, is history.
The last episode that features Amy and Rory is set in New York.
