Doctor Who star Matt Smith and Sherlock actor Benedict Cumberbatch – who is also currently starring in hit drama Parade’s End – have both made entertainment news today…
Beginning with Matt, he’s revealed to TV Biz that he “can’t be bothered” with the internet, and therefore rarely uses it, and he says that he’s so lazy at home, he often doesn’t even open his post!
His remarks during filming for Alan Carr: Chatty Man when asked if he was as much a lover of technology and gadgets at the Doctor, to which he replied, “I try to avoid it. I can’t [even] be bothered to buy train tickets on the internet — I just turn up.
“I am not that organised. I don’t open my post either. I don’t want anything to do with the outside world.
“My dad says I should get myself sorted.”
Also during the interview, Matt revealed that he’s something of an insomniac, saying, “I have got two beds, one in the house in London and one in the flat in Cardiff, and that is where I was having trouble sleeping.
“The one in Cardiff is the same flat David Tennant slept in and the bed has not been changed in seven years.”
And finally, of Karen Gillan’s exit as the Time Lord’s companion, which we’ll see in Saturday’s episode of Doctor Who, Matt said, “We say goodbye to Amy next week. It’s very sad.
“That is the episode we filmed in New York with weeping angels. If you turn away, they come and attack you.
“It’s very dramatic and emotional. It is sad to see her go but the show is about change and regeneration.”
Over to Benedict Cumberbatch – who is evidently not as lazy as Matt – and The Sun reports that during a break from filming in New Zealand recently, he decided a skydive might be fun. As you do…
And it seems that it had some other effects too as Benedict said the 15,000ft plunge left him “incredibly horny.”
The paper adds, “He jumped at the chance to get a bird’s eye view of beautiful Glenorchy in New Zealand, where he’s filming movie The Hobbit.”
Fiona Farquhar, who runs the local skydive club, said, “He was such a lovely guy. He said the scenery up here had blown him away.”
You wouldn’t get me doing that for a big clock! Would you?
