Doctor Who’s new sidekick named! She is… Clara Oswin!
It’s been something of an open secret that The Doctor’s new sidekick is called Clara, however, that has now been officially confirmed, and revealed that her surname is Oswin.
Former Emmerdale and Titanic star Jenna Louise Coleman is of course playing the role, and we’ll meet her for the first time during this year’s Doctor Who Christmas special.
According to today’s Daily Mirror, one of Jenna’s opening lines is, “Rescue me boy and show me the stars.”
The paper adds, “She will initially be referred to simply as Oswin by the Timelord.”
But of course, long before we meet Clara Oswin, we’ve got to say goodbye to Amy Pond, who’s played by Karen Gillan…
Of her exit during the forthcoming new series, in an episode entitled, The Angels Take Manhattan, Karen recently said, “I didn’t read the scripts because I didn’t want to make it real.
“I think it was a few weeks before I read them. I had read the rest of the episode just not that bit.
“There is so much I am going to miss, especially as we have become good friends now.
“I’ll miss all the running down corridors, that is so much fun. It is such a life changing experience, I can’t even describe it.
“I didn’t even offer Jenna Louise any advice because I want her to have her own version of that and not follow any preconceptions.”
The new series of Doctor Who debuts with Asylum Of The Daleks on BBC1 at the end of this month.
