DON’T FORGET THE LYRICS US – 10 SONGS, 10 LYRICS, 1 MILLION DOLLARS
As the British version sings its final notes reaching the end of the series, Sky One fills the all-singing void by screening its Stateside sister show Don’t Forget The Lyrics US. A ratings success, the programme has taken America by sing-along storm. We all think we know the words to the world’s most popular songs, but when there’s a million dollars at stake, will contestants be able to keep singing when the music stops? Or will they be at a loss for words?
Hosted by Emmy-winning comedian Wayne Brady, the show’s formula is deceptively simple: 10 songs, 10 missing lyrics and one million dollars for the taking.
Contestants will choose songs from different genres, decades and musical artists. Then they’ll take centre stage belting out tunes alongside the studio band. But when the music stops can contestants sing the missing lyric or will they freeze under pressure?
After each correct response, contestants must decide to ‘stay & play’ or ‘take the money & run’. If they sing nine songs correctly, they are presented with a no 1 hit and one final missing lyric for the top prize of one million dollars.
