Downton Abbey Series 3: Spoilers and pictures for episode 4!
We are all still in shock following poor Lady Edith being jilted at the alter in last week’s instalment of Downton Abbey!
But, on a brighter note, Matthew finally gave in and donated his inheritance to Lord Grantham to save Downton, although not accepting it as a gift, Lord Grantham made him a partner in the estate (the estate he was already set to inherit, that would have been sold if it weren’t for his contribution, we smell a rat!).
So, whilst our winter TV viewing really starts taking shape, what thrills and delights do we have in store for this week’s new episode of Downton Abbey?
One of the main issues in this week’s episode seems to be Branson’s political views, which are said to “land him in hot water, and test Sybil’s loyalty to the limit.”
Also: “Ethel is torn between head and heart as she makes a difficult decision about her son’s future.”
Meanwhile the tension continues between Anna and Bates, and “Carson begins recruiting a footman, and good-looking candidate Jimmy sparks immediate interest below stairs.”
And if that has wet your appetite suitably, ITV has released the description for episode 5:
An exciting offer for Edith divides opinion.
Isobel throws Ethel a lifeline.
New maid Ivy is attracting attention below stairs, and Alfred’s interest in particular is resented by Daisy.
Anna’s perseverance finally pays off.
Matthew’s concerns about the estate grow but are his protests falling on deaf ears?
Downton Abbey continues on Sunday night at 9pm on ITV1/ITV1 HD.
