Downton Abbey star Phyllis Logan wants the cast to form a choir! Plus new Christmas special pics

Phyllis Logan, who stars as kind hearted housekeeper Mrs Hughes in Downton Abbey, has revealed that she’d like to form a choir with the rest of the show’s cast.

Speaking to the Sun, Phyllis – who’s also starred in A Touch of Frost, Shoestring and Lovejoy, among a host of other TV dramas and films – told the Sun…

“Michelle Dockery sings, Elizabeth McGovern has a band, Lesley Nicol has been in musicals, Siobhan Finneran has a great voice, as does Sophie McShera.

“I can sing a bit so what’s to stop us? The Downton Choir, charity gigs around the country, flog the CDs!”

During the interview, Phyllis also went on to reveal that her character getd to dance with Lord Grantham (Hugh Bonneville) during the show’s forthcoming Christmas special…

As we’ll see, the upstairs residents of Downton Abbey will wait on the servants on Christmas Day, and treat them to a party after dinner.

Phyllis said, “We had to learn the waltz but we were knackered at the end of it. Lots of kicking shins and bruised toes.”

And apropos of the Christmas special, the Daily Mail has a first look at Nigel Havers in the role of Lord Hepworth, and a sneak peek of one of the show’s storylines that sees O’Brien (Siobhan Finneran) and Thomas (Rob James Collier) playing with a Ouija board…

Plus, it seems there could be dire Christmas misery for Anna (Joanne Froggatt) because her new husband, John Bates (Brendan Coyle) could hang if he’s found guilty of the murder of his scheming ex-wife, Vera (Maria Doyle Kennedy)…

By the way, in case you’re wondering – or were, when she was in the show – where you’ve seen Maria Doyle Kennedy before, she starred in hit film The Commitments.

Here she is in action…

Maybe Phyllis could get her to join the Downton choir!
