With the fourth, much-anticipated series of Downton Abbey due to hit our screens later this year, ITV have released a teaser trailer promising a full promo for the show next week!
Well, whilst no official release date has been announced yet, ITV have seen fit to give us a little teaser trailer leading up to the official trailer due to be released on Saturday 31st August.
Whilst the teaser does not actually give any visual clues to the new series apart from the grand estate doors opening, it does give us a snippet of advice from The Dowager Countess (Dame Maggie Smith) which, we can only believe due to the content, is aimed at Lady Mary Lady Crawley (Michelle Dockery).
As fans of the multi-award-winning ITV period drama will know how Lady Mary was left devastated at the end of last year’s Christmas special when her beloved husband of only a year, Matthew (Dan Stevens) was killed in a tragic car accident moments after meeting his first born son and heir.
Whilst Mary’s reaction to the death has yet to be seen, we can take it from the Dowager Countess’ words that she isn’t coping terribly well, as the teaser trailer hears her saying:
“You have a straightforward choice before you: You must choose either death or life,”
With news that the official trailer is to be fully released this weekend, we can only hope that soon after will come an official release date for the fourth series, which will see several new faces as the Grantham family try to come to terms with their tragic loss, which many believe will be hitting our screens next month.
Watch the first teaser trailer in the clip below, and keep watching for updates on this story and the official full promo trailer when we get it!
