Eastenders: Adam Woodyatt Honoured To Be Longest Serving Member

Eastenders star, Adam Woodyatt, has spoken of the honour he feels at being the longest serving cast member on the BBC One soap opera.

Adam joined the show as Ian Beale in 1985.

“I feel quite honoured in a weird way; I never thought I’d still be there after three years, never mind 23!” he said on the soap’s website.

“I may be the only remaining original, but June (Brown) and Pam (St Clement) have been with us since 1985 and 1986 respectively, and some of the crew from the first episode still work there now, so it doesn’t feel like I’m the only one.”

When asked if he ever got bored of playing Ian, Adam answered: “There’s been periods when I haven’t enjoyed playing Ian, but they have been brief. He is always evolving and changing which keeps it fresh.”
