Eastenders actress Barbara Windsor has revealed that she loves the fact that her character Peggy Mitchell is always attracted to bad guys.

She told the TV Times: “I feel sorry for Peggy as she always goes for the rascals, but I’m afraid it would be boring if she met somebody really nice.”

Barbara, 71, added: “I don’t know if they’ll get married but I like to think Peggy eventually outwits him. Larry is only contracted for six months, but he could stay for longer. I hope so because I adore him! He’s a proper geezer and I’ve been a fan of his since I saw him in Fox, a 1980 TV drama about a south London gangster family.

“For a while they were going to put me with Billy Murray, but that idea was shelved when his character Johnny Allen, killed someone.

“When I heard it was going to be Larry I was thrilled.”
