As fans of EastEnders may know Jo Joyner, who plays the role of Tanya Branning, is taking a couple of months off from the show early on in 2013 in order to spend some time with her young children.
However, she will be back later in the year, but in the meantime Jo has told Inside Soap magazine that yet again, the Branning family is going to be front and centre of the show’s major Christmas plotlines for 2012.
Viewers will surely recall that in 2007, Max Branning’s affair with his daughter-in-law Stacey Slater (Lacey Turner) was exposed on Christmas morning by Lauren Branning, who was at the time played by Madeline Duggan…

That was one of my all time favourite episodes of EastEnders, and as mentioned above, Jo has revealed that there’s another “whopper” yuletide storyline for the Brannings ahead.
Of Christmastime, she said, “It’s going to be a very busy time for Tanya and her family.
”We’re currently filming some heart-rending scenes with her mother Cora [Ann Mitchell] and I’ve heard Christmas is going to be a whopper for the Brannings.
“You’d better watch this space!”
Well, whatever it is that’s to beset the family at Christmas could of course tie in with Jo’s temporary absence, but before all that happens, there could of course be wedding bells ringing once again for Tanya and Max (Jake Wood).
As we saw in the last visit to Walford, Tanya proposed to Max after they shared a moment of passion, but his lukewarm reaction wasn’t quite what Tanya had hoped for!
However, of what sort of wedding she’d like for Tanya, Jo said, “I’d love for them to have a small family affair, with Tanya in a grown-up Audrey Hepburn-style dress.
”Maybe she wouldn’t be in white this time, and it would be a different kind of wedding to the day she had when she got married to Greg Jessop [Stefan Booth] a while back.”
Getting back to Max’s reluctance to say ‘yes’ to Tanya’s proposal straight away, Jake Wood has previously hinted that it’s because of something he did while he was staying in Manchester with his brother Derek (Jamie Foreman) when Max left Walford last year.
However, while attending Michael and Janine’s wedding next week, Max is set to confess to Tanya about the big secret…
He’ll explain that he did “something I’m not proud of” and that, “someone got hurt.”
Oooo! Any ideas on what he’s going to confess to?
